The bingo card has five rows and five columns. Each row is one era of Filipino music, and the columns are labeled B-I-N-G-O, just like the bingo games at a fiesta or a family Christmas party.

Tap any tile to see its question, then choose one of four answers. Correct tiles light up in their era's color, while missed tiles turn dark. When five correct tiles line up in a row, column or diagonal, you score a BINGO. There are 12 possible bingos on the card, and a perfect card earns all of them.

OPM did not appear overnight. It grew over a century of Filipino creativity, borrowing from Spanish, American and Asian influences and turning them into something proudly local. Here are the main stops on the route.

  1. Kundiman and haranaEarly 1900s–1950s

Filipino love songs grew from Spanish-era influences into the kundiman, while young men serenaded with guitars under bamboo windows. Composers such as Levi Celerio and Lucio San Pedro later wrote classics that are still taught in schools.

  2. Pinoy rock and folkLate 1960s–1970s

Bands like the Juan de la Cruz Band proved rock sung in Filipino could be powerful, while folk artists such as Asin and Florante wrote about nature, identity and social issues.

  3. Manila Sound and Metropop1970s–1980s

Catchy, Taglish pop from groups like Hotdog filled radio and dance floors. Songwriting contests such as the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival launched classics and helped the term "OPM" catch on.

  4. Balladeers and divas1980s–1990s

Powerful voices took center stage. Sharon Cuneta, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez and many others made the OPM love ballad a national favorite, and karaoke culture made everyone a performer.

  5. The band explosion1990s–2000s

Eraserheads, Rivermaya and Parokya ni Edgar sparked a golden age of Pinoy rock. Later bands such as Moonstar88 and singer-songwriters from TV talent shows kept guitars at the heart of OPM.

  6. Streaming, hugot and P-pop2010s–today

Streaming apps and social media turned local songs into overnight hits. Ben&Ben and Moira Dela Torre led a wave of heartfelt "hugot" songs, while SB19 and BINI built P-pop into a movement with fans across Asia.

What connects all these eras is storytelling. OPM songs are known for heartfelt lyrics about love, family, homeland and everyday life, often mixing Filipino and English in a way that feels natural to listeners in the Philippines and around the world.
